    • 10+ copies of passport & photo ID
    • All medical receipts
    • Any travel insurance paperwork
    • Copies of credit & debit cards
  • Safety
    • Portable phone charger
    • At least 2 phone charger cords and 2 wall adapters
    • Pepper spray & Tazer
    • Computer lock
    • Luggage locks
    • Rain coat
    • Satin sleeping liner (protect from bed bugs, mosquitos at night)
    • Bug/mosquito spray
    • Whistle
    • Both sexes: If you’re sexually active carry condoms!
  • Finances
    • At least 1 credit card that does not charge foreign transaction fees & offers rewards points
    • 1 debit card that does not charge foreign transaction fees &  reimburses all ATM fees: I recommend Schwab debit card
    • Carry cash at all times because some places do not accept debit or credit
  • First Aid
    • Have a bag of bandaids & neosporin, Ace bandage, medical grade tape, aloe vera, and alcohol swabs.
    • Carry pain killers
      • migraines (acetaminophen, aspirin & caffeine tablets)
      • sleeplessness (acetaminophen & diphenhydramine citrate tablets)
      • muscle cramps (naproxen sodium tablets)
    • Also good idea to carry probiotics in case your intestines/stomach get upset!
  • Tech
    • Light & portable computer (I use & LOVE Macbook Air)
    • 2 external drives for the enormous amount of pictures you will take!
    • iPhone 6 (I have a back-up unlocked iPhone 5)
    • Earphones
  • Miscellaneous
    • 1 small sewing kit & pair of mini scissors
    • Thin roll-up towel for shower/beach
    • Sleeping eye mask
    • Ear plugs
    • 1 large backpack for camping overnight
    • 1 medium sized rolling suitcase
    • 1 money purse (holds money and phone)
    • 1 small daypack (holds water bottle, charging stuff)
  • Food
    • Have a bag of nuts/seeds/dried fruit, especially for road trips!
    • I have actually traveled with vegetarian pizza in my suitcase so I had something to eat when I got to my destination!
    • Carry water. It’s smart to invest in a reusable BPA-free water bottle with built-in filter so you don’t have to buy water. If you don’t have this, you can go into restaurants, walk straight up to the bar and ask the bartender politely to fill up your water bottle. I have seldom been turned down.

How I pack:

  • Roll up clothing like you’re rolling a yoga mat
    • Old fashioned folding takes up too much space
  • You can put everything into ziplock bags
    • I put everything but clothes into ziplock bags.
    • You can buy travel bags / waterproof bags for your stuff but I have not done this

AND THAT’S IT! HAPPY TRAVELS!
